Hungarian National Gallery * View accross the Dunube of Buda Castle. This place has witnessed wars and occupation from the 13th to the 20th century. It has been destroyed three times and then rebuilt. Todays design was taken on after World War II The Turks & the Habsburgs have occupied this building. Restoration of Roman Ruins * It seems everywhere we go they are reconstructing one of the sights. These are, will be roman ruins when they are finished. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.42MB)

Matthias Church 1 * Matthias Church is one of the most commonly photographed monuments in Hungary. Over the centuries the church was the scene of many coronations, then it served as a Turkish mosque in 1541 Inside there is the earthly remains of King Bela III and his wife which lie in a carved sarcophagus. * 1536 x 2048 * (1.45MB)

Elizabeth Bridge * The suspension bridge you see in the picture was built in 1903 and was the longest in the world up until 1926. The damn Germans blew up the original in 1945 along with all the others. It was rebuilt in 1964. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.4MB)

Liberty Bridge * This was constructed in 1899, and following the destruction of all the Budapest bridges in 1945 this was the first one to be rebuilt (1946) since it had suffered the least damage. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.49MB)
