Cabin * This is our cabin in Rome. It was one of the better ones. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.31MB)
Outside Colosseum 1 * Vespasian started the construction works in 72AD. The theatre was inaugurated by Titus in 80AD. The theatre had seats for 50000 people and they all came to watch the bloody gladiator fights and wild beast shows. The inaugural games lasted 100 days in which 5000 animals were slaughtered. In 217AD the Coliseum was repeatedly struck by lightning and all the wooden structures, which included the floor of the arena were destroyed. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.46MB)
Outside Colosseum 2 * 2048 x 1536 * (1.49MB)
Arco Di Costantino * 2048 x 1536 * (1.49MB)
Rome At It's Height * The white area is what Rome controlled in it's height of power. Makes Germany's effort seem pathetic. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.55MB)

The Pantheon 1 * This is Rome's best preserved monument of antiquity, probably because it was transformed from a temple that honored all the Roman Gods of Mythology into a Christian church, honoring one God.It is 142 feet wide and 142 feet tall. Once, the empty spots surrounding the portico contained statues of Roman gods. * 1536 x 2048 * (1.35MB)
