Comment: The tower in the foreground is where another prisoner was kept. This guy demanded fresh sheets everyday. He tried the same thing as the Frenchmen and tied all the sheets together to make an escape. Problem with this plan was he didn't tie them together properly and they fell apart on him half way down. He fell to his death. 10/10 for effort though.
View from middle tower * At the very right of the photo is where they used to execute most of the common traitors. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.45MB)

Ravens * These Ravens are a lot bigger in real life and suit the name of messengers of death they have lived in the castle for hundereds of years. It is said that if they were to ever fly away the royal empire would fall. I heard a rumour that they have actually had their wings clipped to prevent that from happening. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.47MB)

Raven 2 * 2048 x 1536 * (1.46MB)

The White Tower 1 * So the story goes, one of the first prisoners at the tower was a French guy. They put him in that tower you see in the photo. He discovered that the barrels of wine they brought him had lengths of rope tied around them. He asked for a great deal of wine during his stay and kept the rope from all the barrels, until he had enough to tie together and make his escape. And escape he did! * 1536 x 2048 * (1.45MB)

Yeomen Guard (Tour Guide) * This guy was our tour guide. By far out of all the guided tours I have been on this guy is the BEST!! These guys are soooo funny and tell you all about the place as stories. One of the best characters you could meet. They are the Yeomen guard. The King/Queens personal guard. They are also known as beefeaters because they used to get paid in extra rations of meat. To become one today they have to serve in the military for 22 years and get to the rank of Sergeant Major before they are even considered for this job. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.48MB)

Tower Green * 2048 x 1536 * (1.55MB)

Armouries * This is where all the armour and weapons are kept. The home of the big boys toys!! You feel like a kid in a toy shop all over again!! * 2048 x 1536 * (1.31MB)

Waterloo Barracks * These are where the Crown Jewels are kept. They are locked in this massive vault. Even got to see the worlds largest diamond. It is pretty strange when you look at some displays in there and the item is missing because it is in use at the time. The building was once the Barracks for all the solders. * 2048 x 1536 * (1.38MB)
